Review of
Poker Academy Software at Gambling Shop -
Online Shopping For Poker Academy Review
of Poker Academy Software I am a
bit of a nerd about poker software. Ever
since I knew computers could Play Texas
Hold'em Poker Online. I wanted to see if I
could get really good without risking my
bankroll by using computer simulation
programs to aid my learning. I eagerly
purchased the software having read good
reviews of it online. After playing 10,000
hands I had a good win rate using Poker
Academy. However, I think the play is a
little exploitable and uniform. If you
enjoy just playing poker without the risk
and want a computer software program for
this purpose, Poker Academy will solve
that need plus give you the tools to
improve your poker. The
interface plays like an online poker site
and you can customise which opponents you
face. There are some excellent heads up
poker bots to play against, many of whom
are good enough to beat professional
players particularly in the Limit version
of Holdem. If you wish to be a good heads
up player then squaring off against these
players will be very beneficial to your
game. It has a really sophisticated heads
up bot. The
tournament section allows you to dictate
the structure of the tournament and there
are various sliders to choose how many
virtual opponents are in the tournaments
and the exact blind amounts at each level
of the tournament. One of the negative
things about the tournament section I
found is the ability to fast forward the
hand once you fold; this means that in a
10 minute blind structured tournament you
get to play many more hands than in a real
tournament which can result in you seeing
many more premium hands than in a genuine
tournament. Coping with waiting for hands
to be completed is part of poker and the
software allows this to be bypassed which
for me is a negative thing. You do, of
course, have the ability to simply ignore
this function but many players will choose
the faster option of speeding up the play
which is not realistic. Cash
games are well represented in this
software program. There is the option for
Limit or No Limit Holdem cash tables with
tight, loose, passive and aggressive
opponents to play against. I found the
play here to be generally competent and it
certainly offered a challenge. The heads
up bots are far superior to the cash bots
but simply by playing and tracking your
statistics against these players this will
help your game improve as you analyse your
play in each position and with various
starting hands. The best
part of the software is the tracking of
your games. You can use a variety of
filters to analyse your play with every
hand able to be replayed for training
purposes. You will need to know how to
analyse your statistics as the data is not
interpreted for you by the software. But
for the intermediate player you are given
recommended ranges for tightness on each
street and you can analyse all hands
played or just session by session. This
makes it a great learning tool. There is
the facility for online play to take on
other Poker Academy users. You compete
through the software interface against
other real players, attempting to earn PAX
(Poker Academy Currency). Poker Academy
try and make players build a bankroll of
PAX hoping that the play is realistic and
not reckless. They make it hard to earn
PAX and this adds value to the idea of
holding onto the currency, as you would
real money. Buy
Poker Academy Poker
Academy has now been updated to a second
version and Poker Academy 2 is available
to buy online. It helped my Holdem game
and I think it would help yours
too. Free
