Company History
Jones
Bootmaker is owned and operated by a
private consortium of Peter Phillips
(Chairman) and Ken Bartle (Chief
Executive). Jones is part of Monsta
Holdings which also includes footwear
retailers Beghins in the Channel Islands
and Gordon Scott Ltd.
The name
Jones has been synonymous with quality
shoes since 1857, when Alfred Jones opened
his first shop in Bayswater. The Company
became famous for pioneering ready-made
shoes in a choice of fittings.
The
1960's and early 1970's saw a period of
sustained growth and profitability, during
which time a number of businesses were
acquired. However, the 1980's was a period
of challenging and difficult trading
conditions which ultimately led to a
drastic re-evaluation of the business and
its target markets.
A new
concept was visualised and this can vision
can now been seen in the form of today's
Jones Bootmaker brand with its newly
modernised shops, appealing to more
fashionable markets.
Currently
there are more than 80 shops throughout
the UK with sales turnover totalling
over £57 million. The Company has
expanded into most of the key retail
outlets, including Bluewater, Trafford
Park and high profile units in
London.
Jones
The Bootmaker are planning further
expansion in other major shopping
centres.
